If you want to go to Cambodia and you hold a passport from America, Australia, Europe or most other counties you will need to get a Cambodian Visa. You have a couple of choices when it comes to obtaining a Cambodian Visa. The easiest is to go to the Cambodian Embassy in Bangkok and you will have it in just a few minutes. No fuss, no muss and no hassle.
The hours of the Cambodian Embassy in Bangkok are from 8:30 – 12:00 and then again from 2:00 – 5:00 Monday – Friday. Not sure what holidays they observe and if they observe both Cambodian and Thai Holidays.
The procedure is very simple. Show up at the front gate of the Embassy and tell the guard “Visa”, he will then hand you a red card with a number on it. Walk through the gate, turn left and up the first staircase on your right. The sign at the bottom of the stairs is marked “Counsulor Services”. Go through the door and you will enter a small waiting room with a few service windows along the back wall and a few seats along the outside wall. Walk across the waiting room and you will see a couple of small shelves with the Visa Application forms, (See Picture Below). Be sure to bring your own pen as none are provided. Fill in the form and take a seat. They will be calling numbers from the service windows, when they call the number that is on the red card that the guard gave you, go up to the window.
Once at the window you will need to hand them, your passport, a copy of your passport, (If you do not have a copy of your passport they will make one for you and charge you 10 Baht). One 4cm X 6cm picture, and the visa application. You will also need to pay them either $25.00 USD or 1,000 Thai Baht. at this time. Then go sit down and wait. In less than 10 minutes you will see them waving your passport out of one of the service windows. Go up collect your passport and you are on your way.
